The sixth annual ʻAha Aloha ʻŌlelo will be held on Friday January 25 from 6:00-9:00p and on Saturday January 26 from 8:30a-4:00p at Hale Hālāwai in Kailua-Kona.
The ʻAha Aloha ʻŌlelo is a Hawaiian language festival featuring Hawaiian language competitions in different categories across different ages, live entertainment, food and merchandise vendors, a Keikiland area for kids and more. The amazing entertainment we have lined up for this year features multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winning group Keauhou on Friday, January 25 at 6:00pm and also features Kumu Hula and multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winning Kealiʻi Reichel on Saturday, January 26 at 12:00pm.
This years event theme is “Ka Naʻi Aupuni.” This years program revolves around King Kamehameha I and his astonishing story of conquering an uniting the Hawaiian Islands. Speech, memorization, battles and music are the competition categories. Students across all grade levels from schools on different islands will compete, such as Pūnana Leo o Kona, Ke Kula ʻo ʻEhunuikaimalino, ʻAlo Kēhau o ka ʻĀina Mauna, Ke Kula ʻo Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu, Ka ʻUmeke Kāʻeo, Ka Pūnana Leo o Waiʻanae, Ka Papahana ʻo Māʻilikūkahi, Ke Kula ʻo Kamakau, as well as others.
